Peptides are currently all the rage in the weight loss and fitness industry. It has helped millions get to their goal weight and become a healthier version of themselves. Substantial weight loss helps obese individuals move more efficiently once the weight is gone, in return, making it easier to exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly of the GLP-1 peptide and the BPC-157 peptide.Â
GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1s) have revolutionized weight loss treatment for many, offering a powerful new tool in the fight against obesity. However, like any significant medical intervention, they come with a distinct set of pros and cons. Here's a breakdown of the "good, bad, and ugly" specifically for weight loss purposes:
The Good for Weight Loss
Significant and Sustained Weight Reduction:Â This is the primary "good." GLP-1s, especially the newer ones like semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound), can lead to substantial weight loss, often 15-20% or more of body weight, which is far greater than what's typically achieved with diet and exercise alone, or older weight loss medications.

They also slow gastric emptying, meaning food stays in your stomach longer, leading to increased feelings of fullness and reduced food intake.

This can include better blood sugar control (even in non-diabetics), reduced blood pressure, and improved cholesterol levels, all of which contribute to overall health and reduce the risk of obesity-related complications.
